The sound of basketballs bouncing, students laughing and our Secondary coaches giving encouragement filled the courts throughout our special four-week basketball clinic.
Our Primary students had the opportunity to learn from some VIP coaches, our very own Senior Boys Basketball Team!
The clinic formed part of the team's fundraising journey towards the 2026 Adventist National Games, while also giving our older students the chance to invest in younger players. Many of the boys began their own basketball journey through school sport programs and the encouragement of older students, so the clinic was an opportunity to pass that support on.
Through games, skill drills and practical coaching, Primary students improved their dribbling, passing and teamwork while having fun together and growing in confidence on the court.

For the Secondary students, coaching became a valuable learning experience of its own.
"They all improved overall from when they started, and I think they had lots of fun, which is probably the most important thing." - Harrison, Year 10
Harrison also discovered that teaching others helped strengthen his own understanding of the game.
"Teaching is the best way to learn. If you teach someone the right technique, then obviously you can improve through that. And also just teach the next generation so they can have fun doing the same sport that you love and enjoy." - Harrison
Before the clinic began, Year 10 student Arlyn shared that he wanted to become "someone that little me would look up to and strive to be like."
Year 12 student Dabi also recognised the responsibility of coaching younger students, saying, "It's a really big responsibility as an older person going there to teach the kids how to do something."
Watching the boys coach with patience, encouragement and enthusiasm, while younger students smiled, persevered and celebrated their progress, it was clear they took that responsibility seriously.
The clinic gave our Primary students the chance to improve their skills, enjoy the game and learn from older students they admire, while our Senior Boys grew in communication, confidence and leadership. It was a wonderful example of our view of leadership at Graceview. We believe all students are leaders and they will grow their leadership skills by using their gifts to contribute to the lives of others.
