To finish an amazing Week of Worship, our Student Representative Council hosted IMPACT, a special evening gathering for Secondary students filled with BBQ, games, worship and connection.

Organised by the Student Representative Council, IMPACT brought students from Years 7 to 12 to spend time together and reflect on the Transformed theme that had shaped Week of Worship.

"The idea of IMPACT is to get people from different year levels who love God, or want to learn more about God, to come together, socialise, have a bit of fun and just learn more about Him." - Jesse, Year 12

"The best part about IMPACT was getting to hang out with friends outside of the stress of school and worship God. Everybody became closer as a community." - Izzy, Year 8

The night began with a BBQ and sports on the courts before everyone gathered for worship and a message shared by Year 12 student, Jesse. Building on the week's theme of transformation, Jesse encouraged students to recognise that spiritual growth is a journey.

"You can't be transformed without transformation. To be transformed in Christ, you actually have to want to be close with God and intentionally walk through that process with Him." - Jesse

One of the most encouraging aspects of IMPACT was that students weren't simply attending. They were leading. From organising the evening to leading worship, speaking and serving behind the scenes, students created an environment where others felt welcomed and encouraged.

"What stood out to me most was seeing students confidently step into worship and fellowship with one another. There was a genuine sense of belonging, encouragement and faith growing among the group." - Mrs Lauren Whitteman, Secondary Teacher Aid

"I loved the fact that I got to help out with IMPACT. I think it's a great thing giving students the opportunity to help out and make an event like this happen." - Izzy

IMPACT was created in response to students asking for more opportunities to connect outside the school day. As Jesse prepares to graduate this year, he hopes IMPACT continues to grow.

"I hope that next year, it continues to grow and other students step up to organise it, help speak and get involved." - Jesse

We believe every young person has leadership potential, gifts worth sharing and the ability to positively influence those around them. Throughout their time at Graceview, students are given opportunities to organise, serve, speak, perform, create and lead in ways that help them grow. IMPACT is one example of this culture in action, helping students build leadership skill and confidence.
