Joyful worship, inspiring Bible teaching and students choosing to step forward made this year's Secondary Week of Worship (WOW) an incredible week of connection and growth.
Week of Worship is a special tradition led by our Year 12 students, giving them the opportunity to encourage, serve and help shape the culture of our Secondary school. This year's theme, Transformed, explored how God changes us from the inside out, shaping our thoughts, actions and hearts over a lifetime. Throughout the week, Pastor Mark Sutherland challenged students to reflect on the ongoing work God is doing in their lives.
"The theme of transformation was great because God really does transforms us in every way possible. He can transform our souls, our hearts, our minds, and He inspires us to undergo those transformations." - Mikel
For Year 12 student Mikel, leading worship was about making the most of his final year and creating an environment where students wanted to participate.
"Getting to lead was so fun... because this is our last year at school so why not give it all you've got? It's great that we get to step up and lead the school." - Mikel
Our Chaplain, Mrs Burrett, said one of the most encouraging parts of the week was watching students step into opportunities that stretched them and respond to God's prompting to serve.
"It was amazing to see so many students step into roles that really stretched them... It was so great to see students responding to God's prompting to serve Him. The worship music over the week is exceptional. The level of engagement shifts and it's wonderful to see the students release their fears and just worship." - Mrs Burrett, Chaplain
Mikel encourages future Year 12 students to embrace the opportunity to leave the same kind of legacy.
"The school culture is dependent on the higher year levels joining in... you can change the culture of the school just by participating... Just give it a go. Get involved. Have fun." - Mikel
Week of Worship is one of the ways faith comes alive at our College. It creates space for students to worship, grow and encourage one another while discovering more of who God created them to be.
Special thanks to Pastor Mark Sutherland, our Chaplain Mrs Burrett, our Year 12 student leaders and the many staff and students whose enthusiasm and heart made this year's Week of Worship such a meaningful experience.
